On his blog A Sound Abundance of Rain, Jacob Haffman mentioned how he used to imagine his Mario and Luigi toys preaching to his other action figures. (No word on if the plumber pals baptized Batman or confirmed Catwoman, however.) He mentioned in a comment on my other blog, Marginalized, how he still has a Super Mario Bros. Super Show VHS tape.
Cut to about a week ago, when I was boxing up a few things at my mother's house that I hadn't been able to bring to my apartment. I came across a pair of Mario tapes, like Jacob had mentioned; an empty can of Mario Redbull; a disabled Toad who lost an arm to our family dog in 2011; and a Mario "high score" statue I've had since I was about six years old.
Anyone else have have any Super Mario swag lying around?

ReplyDeleteI've got a lot of Mario swag. Along with the Super Mario Bros. Super Show tape (and the fact that every episode of the SMBSS is on Netflix), I got Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wing Cap Mario plush dolls (I guess the Wing Cap Mario was publicity for Super Mario 64). I also have other kinds of Mario figures. I took a Mario figure to the pool one time and pretended he was a lifeguard. He handled the water okay, but the chlorine solution that is supposed to purify the water ended up discoloring him. I also have a Lego Mario and a Lego Luigi, which came from two Lego Mario Karts that my brother and I got. I am guessing it was publicity for one of the latest Mario Kart games for the Nintendo Wii. Also, we do have Mario games, both for an emulator and for actual video game consoles. On a side note, I see you have the same tape that I do, the King Mario of Cramelot tape.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's really cool that you can relate to my active imagination of Mario. It's probably time that I take pictures of Mario Church like I used to. Mario is still preaching at the RPG game (I think I got the name wrong, but I am not sure; it's for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System). That chapel is located at a place in the game called Merrymore. I called the chapel area "Merrymore Church." With Mario being the pastor of that church, Luigi is now the pastor of Mario Church (with the action figures). The name of the church made out of Lego's is Lego Church. The church in the Indiana Jones game is called Indy's Church.
